National Consumer Voice for Long-Term Care 47th Annual Conference: Amplify Your Advocacy Resident Empowerment – November 1, 2023

Consumer Voice's Annual Conference educates and empowers long-term care consumers and consumer advocates. The conference covers long-term care issues, including current trends, best practices, advocacy opportunities, and new research. Attendees have the opportunity to learn, network, and exchange ideas with advocates from all over the country.The conference will be live streamed and recorded and available on registrants for 90 days following Nov. 1. Vincent Pierce, Peter Yearwood, Andres “Jay” Molina, Jennilie Brewster, Alex Eshelman and Mikko Cook will speak on a panel about resident empowerment.

Accessibility is key to inclusive storytelling. In this panel, we’ll explore how to work in collaboration with film participants throughout the editing process, how to incorporate feedback, and how to center accessibility as a cornerstone throughout. FIRE co-director/producer Alexis Neophytides, director/producer Set Hernandez (Unseen) and protagonist/co-writer Pedro (Unseen) discuss their challenges with moderator Nefertiti Matos Olivares (Descriptive Video Works) and some of the ingenious solutions that arose during their own collaborative filmmaking processes.
